Growing Leaders

This short video filmed and edited by Charlotte Miles highlights the culmination of a collaboration between “Up to the Challenge” and Spartan Race (packaged as Spartan Edge).

Teachers at the Montessori Children’s House of Denver used tools from “Up to the Challenge” to foster meaningful discussions about how to best take on challenges for months in all classes. To assess students on how well they do with the concepts they talked about, students ran an obstacle course race.

If schools are intentional about giving students time to think about concepts that will help them take on a challenge (including self-awareness, integrity, purpose, passion, positive mindset, courage, commitment, grit, and flow) and offer students opportunities to leave their comfort zones and work on these things, students will learn how they can best take on a challenge. This will make them take charge of their life and become leaders willing to attack challenges head-on.
